Royals 14U Fight Back and Win BIG!

The Royals entered the NSA double elimination Memorial Day tournament taking place on May 28 - May 29, 2022. They finished Saturday, May 28 with a record of 2-2 -- Losing their first pool game 4-5; winning the second pool game 6-2; losing their first bracket game 3-6; and winning their second bracket game 7-4.

They went into Sunday, May 29 needing to win out... And winning is what they did. They won their first game 7-2, solidifying their chance at playing the undefeated team in the championship, needing to win twice in order to call themselves champs.

Championship Game 1 Recap: Royals win 7-2. The Royals got on the board in the 1st inning when Macy Hamer singled. Royals scored 3 runs in the 2nd inning due to the likes of Marigrace Hoese, who hit a triple. In the 4th, it was Marigrace again who hit a double, bringing in more runs. Janelle Simpson was credited with the victory. She went 3 innings, allowing 2 runs on 2 hits, striking out three batters, and walking one. Hoese threw 2 innings in relief out of the bullpen. The Royals collected 9 hits on the day. Mya Davis and Hoese managed multiple hits. Davis led the Royals with 3 hits in 3 at bats.

Championship Game 2 Recap: Royals win 10-1. Royals 14U had everything working for them on Sunday. Royals got their offense started scoring 2 runs in the 1st inning and 3 runs in the 2nd inning. They then notched 5 runs in the 4th inning. The offensive firepower for the Royals was led by Daphne Smith, Macy Hamer, Lillian Skelly, and Kaitlyn Alexander-Wilson, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning. Dakota Hoekstra led the game in RBIs with 3 total. Marigrace Hoese earned the win on the mound, allowing 2 hits and 1 run over 4 innings, and striking out six batters. The Royals scattered 9 hits in the game. Smith, Mya Davis, and Alexandria Cowan all managed multiple hits for the team. Cowan, Davis, and Smith each collected 2 hits to lead the Royals to victory!
